Latest Fashion of Christmas Card: Send Your Best Wishes from PowerPoint

Create your personalized online greeting cards and send Flash eCards instantly by E-mail within PowerPoint for this holiday seasons.

Last year you should have sent a lot of season's greeting cards online or offline to your friends, family, colleagues and customers. That's a great job to improve your personal or professional relationships. This Christmas season, do you like to taste something new for online greetings? Forget those old ways; let me introduce the latest fad in making a personalized Christmas card: send your wishes within PowerPoint.

Although PowerPoint is not as flexible as any multimedia authoring tool, but it's really popular and a lot of people have already mastered it. So using PowerPoint to quickly create an attractive online greeting card is really applicable. Why not have a fresh try?

Create a New Presentation in Correct Dimension

Create a new presentation within PowerPoint, which should be adjusted to a proper dimension for eCard, for example, 5.56 x 4.17 inches. [PowerPoint 2003: File -> Page Setup; PowerPont 2007: Design -> Page Setup] Click the 'Slides sized for:' drop down menu and select Custom. Make sure the width is 5.56 inches and the height is 4.17 inches.

Filling the Background or Setting the Slide Theme Style

Fill the background of the slide with a single color, gradient, or design template.

Single Color
- (PowerPoint 2003: Format -> Background; PowerPoint 2007: Design -> Background Styles -> Format Background) - Click the drop down Color menu and select 'More Colors…'. Select a color for a single color background. Click the 'Apply' button to confirm.

Gradient
- (PowerPoint 2003: Format -> Background; PowerPoint 2007: Design -> Background Styles -> Format Background) - Click the drop down Color menu and select 'Fill Effects…' or select Gradient fill. Select Preset under Colors in the 'Gradient' tab. Select the colors you want for a gradient background. Click the 'Apply' button to confirm.

Design Template or Themes
- (PowerPoint 2003: Format -> Slide Design -> Design Templates; PowerPoint 2007: Design -> Themes) - Select the design template or theme you want for your background.

Set the color scheme of the slide
- (PowerPoint 2003: Format -> Slide Design -> color Schemes; PowerPoint 2007: Design -> Themes -> Colors) - Select a built-in color scheme or theme color, or you can create your own customized theme colors.

Import Your Favorite Pictures, Movies and Sounds

Insert your picture and add some effects. (Insert -> Picture -> From File)

Insert Movies and Sounds. (PowerPoint 2003: Insert -> Movies and Sounds -> Movie from File/Sound from File; PowerPoint 2007: Insert -> Movie/Sound)

If you'd like to insert Flash files into a slide, please read a tutorial at http://www.sameshow.com/other/insert-flash-into-powerpoint-2007.html.

You can drag and position your images/videos/audios by clicking on the image so that the cursor becomes four perpendicular arrows then click and drag.

Add Your Text Messages, Transitions and Animations

Insert a Text Box to display your text message. (Insert -> Text Box)

Drag the cursor as wide as you want the text box to be. You can then type in your message. Change the font face, size, and it's formatting at the top of the screen.

If you want to edit your text message later, click within the text to edit. You can drag the entire text box by clicking the outline of the text box so the cursor changes to four perpendicular arrows then click and drag the text box.

Adding transitions and animations will enhance the popularity of your eCard. (PowerPoint 2003: Slide Show -> Slide Transition/Custom Animation; PowerPoint 2007: Animations -> Transition to This Slide/Animations)

Save Your Slideshow as a Flash eCard

The correct type is important to your personalized eCard. Certainly you may save slides as static pictures, but dynamic content or some effects will be lost. Considering from compatibility to embedded rich media, Flash is the perfect file format for eCard. So all you need is saving your PowerPoint to Flash files.

Some free online service can do PowerPoint to Flash conversion, but unfortunately it just outputs static Flash slides without effects and animations. So a powerful and easy-to-use converter is necessary, such as PPT to eCard, which offers a quick way to make Flash eCard out from PowerPoint.

Upload and Send Your Personalized eCard

When your eCards are ready, the last chapter before finale is making a home for your eCard. If you already have private Web space, that's the best house for hosting. If not, search for some professional online storage services such as Box.net (http://www.box.net). You would insure that your online space is safe and big enough to store your masterpieces. When uploading is done, copy the URL of the uploaded file.

Now open your E-mail client or webmail, send the link of your personalized eCard to your friends, family, colleagues and customers, etc. They will appreciate it.

If you'd like to embed your eCard into Web pages, you just need to set up some simple HTML codes to place your personalized eCard into any Web pages. You may read a tutorial about HTML from W3 School (http://www.w3schools.com/flash/flash_inhtml.asp).

Actually the PowerPoint to Flash converter Wondershare PPT to eCard can host your personalized eCard by uploading Flash eCard files to its server, and generated the link and HTML codes you need automatically. You may simply copy the link or codes to send and share your best wishes. This Christmas, I promise that your personalized eCard from PowerPoint will be a nice greeting and surprise to receivers.
